Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera, nicknamed “El Chapo”, which translates to “Shorty” due to his 5 ft 6 inch stature, is a leader of Mexico’s largest and most powerful drug trafficking organization, the Pacific Cartel. The cartel also goes by the name of the Sinaloa Cartel, thus named after the Mexican Pacific state of Sinaloa where the cartel was born. Loera became Mexico’s biggest druglord in 2003 after Osiel Cardenas, his rival from the Gulf Cartel, was arrested. Loera was listed by Forbes magazine as the tenth richest man in the whole of Mexico.

The Sinaloa Cartel smuggles multi-ton cocaine shipments through Mexico to the USA from Colombia. The Cartel has also been involved in the production of Cocaine in Colombia. Forbes considers Loera to be “the biggest druglord of all time” believing his to have surpassed the reach and influence of Pablo Escobar. Loera is considered to be “the godfather of the drug world!.
